A birthday celebration

To celebrate Bub's birthday, we held a small family party on Friday night (the big celebration took place on Saturday night when the guys went to Medieval Times for an authentic medieval feast and tournament-- you know, the perfect atmosphere for a little male bonding!).  Uncle Dave drove up for the weekend (a fabulous surprise!) and the rest of our "regulars" headed over for a relaxing time together in honor of Bub's big day.  I contemplated the dinner menu for a bit throughout the preceding week, but in the end, decided to stick with the good-old-standby-which-never-disappoints... pizza.

And of course, we had cake... a 2016/Olympic rings cake with Bub's name on top (how I love his dream!)~

A few candle scavengers helped prepare the cake for serving~

And little man climbed purposefully, desperate for a peak~

Lollipop and Grandmom looked on, both all smiles~

And later, Bub and his blue-eyed cousin posed for a shot~

Next came the guest of honor's favorite part-- the presents! Bub excitedly tore into his goodies-- more XBox games, a UVA t-shirt, new goggles, a Philadelphia Eagles fleece, a Shelter Island sweatshirt, Monopoly, an I.O.U. for a new swim team towel, a new watch and a little "mad money"... what more could a 10-year old boy ask for (besides the motorized scooter he's NOT going to get)??

And of course, on Saturday the men plodded across the street for a few rounds of football at the park.  Once again, Uncle Dave's size came in handy~

Thank you, one and all, for helping us celebrate Bub's special day-- this mom appreciates you all tremendously!
