My new toy

Look what Hubby bought me for our anniversary!  It's a Nikon D80 SLR and it's way cool!  Of course, I have absolutely no idea how to use it yet... but no worries-- it came with a very thick manual, written in 20 gazillion different languages, so once I locate the directions written in English, and then find a hundred spare hours to sift through them all, I'll be set.  (Needless to say, I'll be keeping my battery charged in my Canon point-n-shoot for a while yet).

Last night Hubby assembled the camera for me and charged the battery, and this morning I took a few practice shots in Auto mode... nice!  What I'm really looking forward to, though, is tinkering around in the Manual mode.  Once I wrap my brain around "aperture" and "shutter speed" and "exposure" and all those other real camera terms, I think I'll actually have a fair shot at taking a few mildly decent photos.  If they don't turn out, it certainly won't be the camera's fault!

So off I go on this new adventure-- the babe is sleeping, the boys are playing upstairs with a friend, the dogs are crashed out on the floor... time to delve into the world of digital SLRs... wish me luck!

Congratulations on your new "baby"! I am so happy for you. You are going to love this camera. I have used one before and could not believe how beautiful the pictures turned out.

I look forward to hearing more about what you learn. I still have "only" a bridge camera and not a SLR but it is on my list.

Once you figure out you camera you may want to check out this place...
